Here we go again with a collection of Etsy items that I currently love. Etsy has a lot of random items on it but if you dig deep enough you can find lots of beautiful things too…like Beth Victoria wallpapers and tables!

1

1 – Bud vase 2 – Incense holder 3 – Lamp 4 – Hanging planter

How cute is that incense holder! Also love the bright pop of blue in it too! The vase no.1 is also such a great piece for a dining table or mantle piece. Subtle but gorgeous.

2

1 – Earings 2 – Metal planter 3 – Mugs 4 – Earings!

3

1 – Coffee Table 2 – Wall Art 3 – Mobile 4 – Coffee Table

The leg and base of that first coffee table is just so beautiful and different. In love with the geometric design!

Hopefully my digging has found some gems that you like and can help you on the way to finding more. Another set will be coming up in a month or two so keep an eye out for that!

Thanks for visiting, Beth Victoria

Floating Dressing Table

£230 From Urbansize

il_570xN.1084295880_bavx

This shop holds a range of sleek minimal designs like this dressing table. I love the simple lines and clean finish along with the functional jewellery rail for keeping necklaces untangled and ready to wear.

Scaffold Board Desk with Hairpin Legs

£160 from Tcindustrialvintage

il_570xN.1188967874_gewm

The re-use of these scaffolding boards as a desk is a common design that I love. The boards paired with the hairpin legs make for a simple yet statement vintage industrial piece.

Mid Century Modern Plant Stand

£31.33+ From HookAndStemCo

il_570xN.1278103469_ih67

Inspired by the 50’s this stand is the perfect way to introduce plants and pots into the home. The pots aren’t included but there are four different types of wood and four sizes to choose from. Not only do these look amazing but also this Canadian company plant one tree for each purchase. There’s no excuse not to buy one or two!

Eiffel Style Dining Chairs

£117.99 for a set of four. From MOF Home

il_570xN.1279760609_cjrn

These padded dining chairs are interesting and perfectly retro. The eiffel tower legs are gorgeous and the lines are matched with the detail in the seat padding. These chairs come in four colours the black and white seen above and a bright yellow and green. You can buy them as individual pieces for just £33.99 and in sets of 2s or 4s. I think I need them.

Tiny Succulents

On sale! From Sedumstore

il_570xN.1245805262_17ps

Sedumstore is a cute little shop that sell a range of different little plants (that would look great in our tiled coffee table.) There is a wait to get these as they have to be grown but they are discounted and available to pre-order now. A few people have asked where to get plants to go in the middle of BethVictoria.com’s coffee table and so just wanted to throw this in the post to show another option than the local garden centre.

Check out the coffee table here.

A simple blue design

HETH120577_zoom

Today I’m heading off to Portsmouth and so I’ve based this mood board on a light and airy blue seaside-y feel. I started with the fabric from harlequin and the light, wooden furniture. This fabric is great for being able to tie in a range of different shades of blue within the accessories and lighting. Using the neutral furniture also means that the room is easily changed – simply just swap out the accessories with different colours.

bLue

Hopefully the weather in Portsmouth is as light and airy as this design…

Doshi Levien for John Lewis

9021070513727_417445_alt15-hero_0

doshi-levien-for-john-lewis-031016

The ‘Open Home’ collection has just been launched within a select stores and online at John Lewis. ‘Open Home’ is a new 13 piece collection of Furniture developed by Doshi Levien for John Lewis.

doshi-levien-pondok-chair-041016

The collection is ‘inspired by the elegance of Scandinavian modernism and mid-century Italian design.’ The sculptural furniture within the collection is designed to create a separate space within an ‘Open Home’. For example The Pondok Sofa above has high arms and back acting as a divider between it and the space around it.

doshi-levien-nami-chair-041016  236728115

These are the two armchairs within the collection. The one on the left, Nami High Back Armchair, follows the same guidelines of a sculptural piece as the Pondok Sofa. The Mudra Low Back Armchair, on the right, is equally as wide but with a low back and a ercol/Scandinavian feel to it.

Stepping away from seating this collection also has coffee, console and side tables, a lamp and a rug. The lamp seen above is the Falcon LED Table Lamp the lamp is blocky and uses contrasting colours to create a contemporary piece. The Ballet console table has tall legs that create a simple structure that holds the tabletop. ‘Designed to suggest a sense of light-footedness, it is a characterful contemporary take on a traditional typology.’ (John Lewis website). Finally, this is the Phulkari Rug made in India with a Soumak crafted technique. Its intricate colourful geometric chevrons and stripes are the perfect accompaniment to the curves of the furniture.

A living room design with John Lewis products

2

This design was made in answer to a made up brief for John Lewis. The brief outlined the size of the room and the wants and needs of the clients. Here is the brief in short; warm tones, show off the victorian oak floorboards, to include an office area, spaces to display photographic work, be able to be used by all five family members and a stylish design. Above is the initial mood board of spaces, products and colour combinations

3

After finding existing images that I thought related to the space and the clients brief I then grouped a collection of colours, patterns and materials for the space and looked at how they could work together.

4

5

Having chosen the colour scheme and taken a look at the materials and patterns available within John Lewis the next step was to look at the products  in the grey and yellow colours chosen and that will go within the space. The above two boards show the various products that would work and the options for accessories and furniture for the room.

6

7

These next two boards show the chosen furniture for the room. Starting to group them together and layer the materials and patterns on top of each other.

8

Having chosen the furniture the next step was putting them together within the context of the room. Creating these visuals with the use of Autocad and Photoshop. The above image and below three show the views of the different walls and placement of the furniture in relation to the space. These visuals also show the suggested arrangement of the photo frames on the walls.

9

10

11

The final below board shows some very simple 3d visuals of the room and an Autocad plan of the room. The time frame for this project was very short, if I had more time to work on this project these final visuals would be more detailed and engaging rather than the blocky simple images they currently are.

12

We really enjoyed working on this project and hope you like what we designed!

The velvet trend

f9f2bc35e2a2e0ed396e2113a0392919

We’ve read from the people that know that one big trend during 2017 will be velvet! Whilst collecting images of various velvet containing rooms we saw a definite pattern in big blue comfy sofas and chairs. Blue is predicted to be within a lot of interiors this year and it would seem this relates back to the velvet trend.

velvet

Inspired by this velvet comfiness we have found a few options that you can get in your home. From chunky sofas to sophisticated cocktail chairs and lush throws – we’ve got all the velvet bases covered.

Chairs are architecture, sofas are bourgeois – Le Corbusier

602cbaa9d688d3f245aba5f69a5b39f4

This is simply about our love of mid century modern arm chairs. Just look at them. They shouldn’t, and in some of these cases aren’t, be considered a piece that goes only within a mid-century modern themed room. Gentle coloured upholstering goes with a light Scandinavian feel and darker greys work well with a more industrial style.

3

They’re beautiful. So we’ve found some that can be purchased. We want them all.

Metallics in the home look perfect. The current trend is to swap out the cold, plain metals for warm and reflective coppers and rose golds. They can be used all around the house from a simple light in a bedroom to copper pans and storage in a kitchen.

The selection of images we’ve found above are all about the warm metal accessories. Taking ideas and reference from this collection we’ve found some beautiful items, in a range of prices, for your home.

The perfect study …

4dc269fd167cd2c42497099605de9c50

…to beat the back to work blues

For this post we started by collating a load of images of studies that we could work in. They mostly consist of a lot of light and storage options. It is so easy to let piles build up on your desk and the light to go down whilst working through to the night so hopefully this will help!

untitled-1

Whether your study is just a simple desk or a whole room the items we have found will add a little extra organisation, motivation or fun to the space. Hopefully making work deadlines or exam prep a little more do-able.
